If you’re like me, taking naps on vacation can seem like a complete waste of well-spent money. Jet lag hits hard and sometimes it is inevitable that you will waste a few hours in your comfy hotel bed. On my recent getaway, I got hold of a new product called Nap26.

This non-drug audio system refreshed my sleep-deprived self in only 26 minutes. Upload the disk to your MP3 player and get ready for 26 minutes of much needed rest. I first used it on the plane. At first the audio can seem a bit silly or even sound broken. It begins with a man’s soothing voice, which then slowly changes to the sound of a beach/static with a strange organic beating. After my friend used it, she described it as feeling like she was back in her mother’s womb. But stick with it and “listen actively” (as the recording states) and soon you’ll be waking up to the sound of birds chirping. The system says that you will feel like you slept for three hours, and I am not denying these claims. My travel companions didn’t always use the sleep system and spent far too long in bed napping, while I was out exploring and enjoying my time.

So on your next trip, try it out.

I’m sure many of you can relate. My husband works shift work and changes shifts every week causing his sleep pattern to be very erratic. I was introduced to Nap26 which is a safe, natural audio program that uses binaural beats sound technology designed to be listened to with headphones. NAP26™ is a relaxing, 26-minute audio nap specifically designed to guide you into just the first 2 stages of sleep before gently waking you up, allowing your body and mind to naturally rest and rejuvenate, and still wake up feeling refreshed and alert. Although safe and natural it is not meant to be used by pregnant women so I had my husband do this review.

“Binaural (heard with two ears) beats” are simply sounds and tones designed to be heard at slightly different frequencies by each ear. This slight difference in sound vibration between the right ear and the left ear matches natural sleeping patterns and is what helps signal the brain to either enter a more relaxed state or enter a higher level of alertness.

My husband was very surprised at how quickly he was able to fall asleep by listening to the Nap26. He said you are laying there thinking you aren’t going to be able to fall asleep and before you know it you have been sleeping and it is time to wake up.

This proven, non-drug audio solution from POWRNAPS has been shown to increase productivity up to 34%, boost energy, improve your mood, and allows you to spend more quality time with friends and family. Nap26 allows listeners to get the equivalent of a 3 hour nap in just 26 minutes.

Studies show that taking regular, short naps under 30 minutes can do wonders towards improving your mood, work performance and overall productivity throughout the rest of your day, without making you feel groggy or interfering with nighttime sleep.

My husband has been using the Nap26 audio program when he is feeling tired and I have to say that when he wakes up he definitely seems more alert and energized. He thinks that it works great too!

NAP26 is available in a CD format for only $14.99. The CD can then be downloaded to any i-Pod. NAP26 also offers a personal digital player for $29.99. This would be a great gift for any mom or dad

Okay, it’s nap time — who’s in? Mama is!!! But I don’t really want to sleep for two hours because then I will get nothing done while the baby is sleeping…on the other hand, I’m so tired. Does this sound like a daily dilemma that you have? Mama has the answer for you on this beautiful Mama Monday — Nap26!

Nap26 allows you to get the equivalent of a 3 hour nap in just 26 minutes! NAP26 makes the powernap a reality — in fact, even a NASA study has shown that a 26-minute nap increased alertness among airline pilots. Imagine what it can do for Mama! Here’s how it works, NAP26 uses binaural beats to train your brain to relax and to awaken without being groggy. The scientific digital modulation process inserts pulses and beats that the brain hears but what you hear is waterfall sounds! It’s peaceful and so relaxing that you just doze off and wake up to the sounds of birds feeling refreshed and ready to tackle that to-do list.

It’s available on a CD which can then be downloaded to an i-Pod via iTunes — they recommend to use it with ear phones for the best effect. They also have a personal digital player available. Now tell me what Mama wouldn’t want NAP26 on their holiday list!!! Available at NAP26.com, $14.99 for the CD or $29.99 for the personal digital player.

Here is a brief description of the product taken from their website:

NAP26™ is the amazing power nap program that gives you the rest and rejuvenation of a 3-hour nap in just 26 minutes — without feeling groggy!

Studies show that taking regular, short naps under 30 minutes can do wonders towards improving your mood, work performance and overall productivity throughout the rest of your day, without making you feel groggy or interfering with nighttime sleep.

Frequent and regular short-term naps under 30 minutes have been shown to:

• Increase Performance and Productivity
• Improve Ability to Concentrate and Focus
• Reduce Stress and Moodiness
• Improve Healthy & Vitality
• Improve capacity for Memory & Learning
• Stimulate Boost Creativity

I think the NAP26 is a great idea. I had a little bit of trouble figuring out how the handheld unit worked at first but my husband figured it out no problem… of course I love that it is a completely drug-free way of getting more energy.

NAP26 definitely helped me… when I found the time to actually use it! I admit that finding 26 minutes to myself in a day can be quite the task. But if you can pull it off it sure does help. I am a notoriously bad napper. I usually end up feeling worse after! But I felt just fine after using the NAP26.

This is a product I wish I had discovered sooner. It would have been perfect for when my kids were still napping- I could have used it during their naps!

Thanks so much to the folks at NAP26 for providing me with a free unit to try out.

                				}
// -->

Don’t mess with my sleep.

New parents know whereof I speak: around Week 2 after the Miraculous Birth, you sit on a rocker, slack-jawed, wondering when this precious bundle in your arms will ever stop crying, stop feeding and/or start sleeping. You aim mental darts at your better half as he dozes undisturbed, and you look around for anyone you can offer $1,000 to for four straight hours of sleep.

Of course all this passes and your child starts sleeping through the night. The luckiest of parents get their zzzs as early as 12 weeks. My kids didn’t give us the pleasure until they were six months old. By then, I learned to recognize fellow sufferers by the dark bags under our eyes (and the fact we all stumbled around mumbling, “Four hours, just four straight hours.”)

So when I heard about the NAP26 system, I had to investigate.

This power nap program promises to give you the rest and rejuvenation of a three-hour nap in 26 minutes. The idea is each ear listens to binaural, or “heard with two ears” beats. You don’t notice these pulse sounds under the white noise but this slight difference in sound vibration between the right ear and the left ear matches natural sleeping patterns. This is what signals the brain to either enter a more relaxed state or enter a higher level of alertness.

OK, I got the scientific basis stuff. But can I find 26 minutes in which to nap? And will the CD succeed in waking me up when my mother playing a guitar with rabid gusto couldn’t? (This was way back in grade school, but I’m still a heavy sleeper.)

I had to try this nap in a snap.

Day One: 11:30 a.m. I settle Wonder Boy with the Wii and a snack after baby goes down for her nap. I grab the Nap26 MP3 player, put on the earplugs and settle down for a much-needed rest. The soundtrack starts off with a little relaxing music then segues to a soundtrack of white noise or a waterfall. A bit distracting at first, but I’m a willing participant. I open one eye:

Wonder Boy’s face is two inches from mine. “Mom,” he whispers. “Are you done yet?”

Day Two: With Wonder Boy at school, I get a chance to try Nap26 when baby goes down for her second nap. Alleluia! After a minute or two, I fall asleep on the couch with baby in her bassinet beside me. I forget to check the time when I wake up though, but boy am I happy!

Day Three: Best day yet. I didn’t get a chance to nap during the day, so knowing full well I would be up at least three times tonight, I use the power nap thing at 10 p.m. This time, I go whole hog, settling into bed with a nice cozy blanket, AC on, lights off, everyone else asleep. I fall asleep even before the nice man on the recording finishes wishing me, “rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.” And the magic part is I actually wake up just in time to hear the nice, calm voice say, “It’s time to wake up now,” in dulcet tones I never use with my children. I feel great. Bring on the 4 a.m. feedings!

I’ve used this power nap system several times since and it’s worked well for me. I think it helps that I’m an easy sleeper to start with, and am dog-tired these days to boot. Even just riding in the car puts me to sleep, so yes, I am a fan of Nap26. There are other power machines and CDs on the market too, including one for people who need help sleeping through the night.

And of course there are the recordings and machines that guarantee to help your baby sleep through the night too, but those haven’t worked too well in our household.

Hush little baby, indeed.

August 11th, 2008

I’ve been exhausted since I got pregnant with my first child and it hasn’t let up. More experienced parents tell me I’ll sleep well once or twice over the next 30 years, and then I’ll start staying up to worry about my grandchildren. That doesn’t sounds promising. When I heard about NAP26™ I was excited to try it. The claim is that you will feel like you slept 3 hours after 26 minutes, and since that’s almost exactly the maximum amount of time I have each day when both my kids are sleeping (on a very good day when the planets are aligned) it sounded good to me. The idea is that you can energize and refresh without the drowsiness that comes from sleeping too long. NASA science has shown that a 26 minute nap improves alertness in pilots. If it’s good enough for NASA, it’s certainly good enough for me. The website says “NAP26™ uses Binaural Beat Technology to train the brain to relax and to awaken without risk of grogginess. A scientific digital modulation process inserts precise pulses and beats that the brain hears. The difference in vibration between one ear and the other stimulates either deeper relaxation or alertness. You will feel like you slept for 3 hours in 26 minutes.” The big question, though, is does it work for chronically sleep deprived parents? Yes! On the rare days when I get 26 minutes to myself, I am absolutely loving the NAP26™ system. Sometimes I fall asleep, most of the time I just relax, but I always feel amazing when the 26 minutes of heaven are over. I think we’ve found what may be the best new mom gift of all time – sleep. Just make sure you also include the half hour of babysitting that goes with it.

If you want to experience the benefits of daytime power naps or have difficult time getting to sleep at night, then this NAP26 Digital Audio Play preloaded with two powerful sleep programs POWRNAPS may be for you.

NAPS 26 Power Nap Program

For quick daytime, power naps, you get the NAP26 program which guides you through a 26 minutes daytime nap designed to rest, relax and rejuvenate you. The audio program uses binaural beat technology which readers of the Mindware Forum will be familiar with from other posts here.

Here is how the folks at Powrnaps describe the experience:

In the first few minutes of listening, you will adjust to the sound waves delivered through your headphones. Next, the sound waves guide you through 15 minutes of deep sleep. At the end of 26 minutes, your are brought to a state of heightened wakefulness as you are awakened to birds chirping, feeling refreshed—as though you’ve had a long 3 hour nap.

It was designed because the co-founder was tired from traveling, working long hours, and being unable to catch up on sleep.

I didn’t use the power nap setting very much but when I did even when I didn’t fall asleep I did feel a bit more rested. It is 26 minutes and has sounds at the end to help wake you back up.

I did use the sleep setting a lot. It did seem to help and the sounds are soothing. The only bad thing is batteries seem to run out kind of fast. So be sure to use rechargeable batteries. The earphones that come with it aren’t the best but any normal earphones work.

If you have trouble sleeping this is something you should try!
